There is a parcel of land that is owned by a local developer, but has been used as a nature trail by the local community for years. Last year, the developer planned to develop the land into a housing area, consisting of 120 to 150 new homes. If this happens, the community will lose use of the land, and the local environment will suffer. The developer has offered to sell the land to the community if enough funds can be raised to purchase the land. A local group is trying to raise funds from individuals, businesses, and organizations in an effort to have enough money to apply for matching funds from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
The Rock 4 The Park Rock-A-Thon was created to allow kids and former kids to help save the Lake Lansing North park. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to this community effort.

What? Rock 4 the Park is a 12 hour Rock-A-Thon to raise funds to save part of the Lake
Lansing Nature Trails.
Individuals, or teams of people, will register to rock in the rock-a-thon. Each team will work together
to get pledges of support from their family, friends, or neighbors. They will bring their pledge forms and
a rocking chair to the event and have fun rocking the night away for a good cause. Food, entertainment,
and door prizes will help the rockers pass the time.
When? September 19, 2008.
People can bring their chairs and start rocking anytime after 6:00 pm.
Rocking starts any time between 6pm and 11pm.
